Tonight the Honduras Team gathered to mark the fact that in 50 days we will on our way. We spent the time just getting to know each other better, share stories and fellowship. It quickly became obvious that this group has more in common than differences. And while we’re are over a thousand miles apart, I suspect we’ll discover that same thing about the children in Pena Blanca, Honduras. We’ve only seen their pictures and read their stories, but in 50 days we’ll begin to know their hearts.
The Honduras Team of Lake Forest Church is partnering with Children’s Impact Network to start building an orphanage known as the Honduras Life Center. While in Honduras, we will be serving the six children in their current home, participate in Sidewalk Sunday School in the local schools and distribute food to families in remote villages.
The team is excited and full of nervous energy. We do not yet fully understand what God has in store for us. We may not understand until after we return from the trip what God did through us or to us. What we do know is that God’s work will be done and we are excited to be part of it.
In a few weeks the Honduras Team will get together again for a local mission trip in the Charlotte area. More to come soon…
